You have to download an executable, install that. It appears that's the game's client. Then the character creator installs through that, which is around 7 GBs. The name that first appears when you run the character creator might be your account name(?).
I tried a few female character names I use in video games and they were taken. That seemed odd, but I thought 'Ok'. The game took Nausicaa, and then that lead to the actual character creation aspect, where you can name an individual character.So yeah, I guess my account name might be 'Nausicaa', which is alright I guess. Not my first choice for these types of things, but sure. So as I was closing out a few web browsers, I accidentally closed the character creator.

(Whoops!) I was a little surprised the program didn't ask if I wanted to save or confirmed whether or not I wanted to quit, but whatever.I did take two screenshots earlier though. Here's the character I made. I went with a Sorcerer, because that seemed like one of the characters I would actually play as if I ever do actually play this game.First impressions are pretty great so far. The tool is pretty simple to use. If you haven't seen it before, you can use sliders or click on body parts and move them around. Makes it pretty simple for things like if you want to curve up a character's nose, or if you want the person's hair moved out of the way. (Like there's one hair style for females where if one section is long enough it is parted over her right eye.
But if you grab that part of her hair, you can move it out of the way.) The only thing I couldn't really figure out was the poses, but the more I looked at it the more it seemed like that was just a way for you to pose the character around like a mannequin as opposed to creating custom animations or stances.
