Should it be chosen to destroy the Institute, and so long as Shaun is rescued from the destruction at Father's pleas, the synthetic Shaun will periodically ask for the Sole Survivor to bring him specific items (i.e. A hot plate) so that he can 'take it apart', and in return, will build useful items, culminating in the creation of the Wazer Wifle. Obviously The Institute is a rather morally ambiguous organization. And obviously with both the Minutemen and the Brotherhood of Steel you destroy them in the end. However despite their questionable ethics and everything one major question that I've been running through my mind is this. Is it morally okay to actually destroy the Institute? There you will find the previously met synthetic Shaun. You can decide to leave the synth here or (a better idea) take him with you (after completing this quest he will reside in the Castle or in the Sanctuary). Finally, talk to Sturges. Well for starters we all know that in the beginning of the game we find ourselves having to take our family and our baby 'Shaun' to Vault 111 to avoid getting exposed to the atomic bomb that hit Boston. And once we get inside the Vault we are taken into these Cryogenic Chambers where we are stored for 210 years, however during the process we wake about about 150 years before we exit the chamber, and we see Kellogg shoot your wife/husband and members of the institute take your child Shaun. Once this happens you fall back to sleep and you don't wake up for another 50 years due to the fact the your chamber door opens releasing you into the new Commenwealth. Now during the story Father (Shaun) does briefly mention why the Institute chose him, however the man is so boring and I would not be surprised if some if you skipped this valuable information or just was not listening.

And so I'm here to sum it all up for you and give you all of the juicy details on why the Institute took Shaun!》So Let's Begin!《In one of my earlier post I mentioned what really happened in Vault 111, it is a lengthy story but it is a good one. But my point is is that all of that happened only six months after the lone survivor is placed in the Cryogenic Chambers. And that means that there was never any staff members or security left in Vault 111 when the Institute came so there would be nothing stopping them. But let's fast forward shall we?

After 150 years of being in the Cryogenic Chambers the Institute see's records of Vault 111 containing life forms that were preserved before the war, now this excited the Institute because during this time they were in the process of making their Generation 3 synths. But in order to create them they needed the DNA from a human that was never affected by radiation, and they knew that these people in the Cryogenic Chambers have never been in contact with it. So this was their only chance to create a generation 3 synth. Then in the year of 2227 the Institute takes action and sends Kellogg and two Institute scientist to Vault 111 to retrieve a human.

However out of the multiple people that were frozen they chose Shaun. Well Shaun was the youngest person there and this meant he had the most stable DNA meaning that he has not really been in contact with anything such as diseases or illnesses. So he was the freshest source, and that is why the Institute chose him. But once Kellogg and the scientist took Shaun and killed your wife/husband due to being incoropative with them, Kellogg shuts down all of the Chambers killing all of the other inhabitants. Well the Sole Survivor was to be the 'backup' Just in case if anything happened to Shaun. Now let's fast forward to the year of 2287, this is when your chamber Apperently malfunctions and you are now able to leave the vault.

But it turns out your son Shaun opens the chamber door for you that way you can hopefully make your way to the Institute to be reunited with your son. 》So Why Did They Take Shaun?《In the end the Institute wanted a good source of DNA to use to create their Generation 3 synths, and that is why Shaun is called father because pretty much every synth had been created in his image.Don't get me wrong it was pretty confusing when you first started playing the game because there was so many secrets it was just plain hard to comprehend.
