So I really want to get an IO Hawk but I'm not sure if I really want to spend 1,300 on one. Where Amazon has cheaper Chinese knock offs for $400. So far I see mixed reviews of it and can't really make up my mind.I also saw this video a Youtuber did of the fake knockoff IO HawkI wouldn't mind getting the Chinese one, as long as it worked, but if it's breaking down on people like some say then I don't want to waste $400 on a 1 time thing.
On the other hand I don't know if I want to spend $1,300 on this.EDITI'm getting a lot of questions about this so I'll just say this.I have 3 of them. All from different sellers on Amazon, and as of now all 3 sellers no longer sell them.All 3 have had problems. The first one I got had a cracked light, and the charger port got pushed back into the scooter so I have to open the scooter everytime I want to charge it.My second one lost charged quickly. My first and third one would go 7-10 miles on a charge, this one would last about 4 miles. Also I took all 3 out in the light rain, this one completely died due to a little rain.My third one seems to have a loose wheel as it's constantly scraping against the scooter, have to take it apart to see what the issue is.Make sure when you do buy one it's SHIPPED AND FULFILLED BY AMAZON, if it isn't then your board is getting shipped from China. And more importantly getting a refund incase something goes wrong is harder/longer.
I filed a return claim for my first one and 2nd one. 1st one I got my refund within 2-3 hours, 2nd one I literally got the refund today after about 12 days.Yes it's%100 worth the money, I've used them pretty much everyday since I got my first one in June. Definitely go with the 'knockoff'.

I purchased the Amazon prime one last week. It's amazing.
It's the same as IO Hawk, just doesn't have the logos. They are both made from the same warehouses in China. They just stamp the IO logo on some.
I'm not sure about the warranty tho. I know you would have a warranty with IO Hawk, not sure about about some of the knockoffs.
I mean you can replace them multiple times before you'd hit the cost of an actual IO Hawk.I do know some of the listings on Amazon stated that it has a 1 year warranty, but I'm sure it depends on who the seller is you purchased it from.I purchased mine from seller TwoZeroFive With Prime. Some of the cheaper ones from China say they take 5 days also.Edit: TIPThese things scratch very easily. I wish I would have seen this video before. I HIGHLY suggest you check out this video.
All are the same, the difference is the quality of the inside. If you care about quality and you do not want to waste your time in refund and buying something that does not work, then go for a trusted supplier. I mean, someone you can go to when it breaks, and make sure of the warranty.Simply the shop or supplier that gives warranty, will be the one that you will go to if something goes wrong.Overseas buying is very complicated in terms of warranty. You will either need to ship it back (which costs money) or you will wait for spare parts to fix it yourself. (Both ways are not good and expensive).Best thing you have your shop and maintenance and repair around you, not overseas. Otherwise, you are throwing your money away.
